Whom can I blame today?

I remember when my friends and I were children and we were very much afraid to tell our parents that we did something naughty at school. Our teacher was the first that punished us and the parents were the second, so we could get punished twice. Of course nobody punished us using extreme methods. Apparently it worked very well because we have been successful in our lives.

I don't know exactly when but this method was replaced with a new approach. If you did something wrong start to blame others. If you messed up your life blame others. If you wasted your time on stupid things and now you have nothing blame others. It is almost like when you wake up you have to blame somebody for something that is going to happen in your life. I watch my nephews and nieces when they are fighting and it always amuses me when they point out who started the fight. It is always the other person.

This behavior is understandable among the children. They try to escape from a punishment. It is not acceptable among adults. We have to carry our mistakes and consequences. If there is somebody to blame we always have to start with ourselves. It doesn't mean that we did something wrong but it helps to understand that life is not perfect. And here is something that kept the modern world in a good shape - confession. This sacrament shows us the truth. You can blame others for your failures but God knows the truth and in this sacrament we face the truth. There is no space for blaming other. The only person you can blame is you. This is one of the reasons why it is so important for us to go there on a regular basis. I think if we will come back to this gift, our families, communities and even our country will become a better place.

We have to stop blaming others and start to do our own job the best we can. At the end, God will not ask you about others but about what you did. It is worthy to remember it.
