Be Watchful

This is a warning that comes today from Jesus Christ. Be watchful. In this time of pandemic it is hard to believe that people are not watchful. Unfortunately we are very watchful if it is about our own surroundings and safety. We protect our property, family members, money etc. We know how to make safe moves to win over others in this worldwide competition. It is a different story if we look how prepared we are to welcome Jesus Christ.

Just ask yourself a question: if Jesus Christ would return today, if he would make his judgment right now, where would you go? To heaven or to hell. We do not know when He will return but we have to be watchful, alert.

It is an irony of this life that every time we prepare ourselves for something, another thing comes and surprises us. It is like God teaches us to be ready for the final moment, not just for the temporary events. This entire narrative going around COVID took away our attention from other things so that we can almost say that nobody dies because of cancer, car accident, or even flu. Unfortunately people are still dying for many different reasons.

So, we have to be watchful that our daily anxieties will not fool us and we will not forget that we can leave this world anytime.

Advent teaches us to look forward to welcome Jesus Christ. We say this every time we pray "Our Father" - "Thy Kingdom come". We have to be ready and joyful. Our life is in Him. There is a reason that every year we sing Maranatha - Come Lord Jesus.
