Behold the wood of the Cross, on which hung the salvation of the world

We entered the most holy place of the altar. This is where the Heavenly realm joins together with the earthly. True God and true man is stretched between eternity and death. The unblemished Lamb was crucified for all of us.

Good Friday is a day of sorrow and joy. It is a day of sorrow because our God had to sacrifice himself for our wrongdoings. It is a day of joy because in Jesus Christ we have a hope for everlasting life. The Liturgy shows us that because of the Cross we have heavenly food.

Everything that we as people are afraid of became a means of our salvation. We are afraid of pain, but Christ suffered beyond what we can imagine. We are afraid to die, but Christ gave Himself to His Father hanging on the cross. We are afraid to be humbled by others, but Christ rejected His power to become a slave to everyone.

There is only one God that did something like that for his people. There is only one faith liberating us from a prison of sin. There is no other way come, only through the cross to be with our Creator. He is always the center of everything and in Him is our life. Stretched on the Cross, He embraces the entire universe to restore what was damaged by us. So come, let us adore Him. Let us look at Him and understand how much it cost to give us the gift of our salvation.
