Faith communities often face moments of change that challenge their traditions and call for renewal. After a long pause in writing, it is clear how much has shifted—not only in the world but within the church itself. New members are joining, some Catholics are returning after years away, and young people struggle with a lack of moral foundations. At the same time, the work within the church grows and is full of grace.

Change is inevitable, especially in religious communities that span generations. Many Catholics who once drifted away from the church are now returning. This return is often motivated by a search for meaning, community, or spiritual grounding in a world that feels uncertain. Welcoming these individuals requires patience and understanding, as their experiences and questions may differ from those who have remained active in the faith.

At the same time, new members—so many young people—join the church with little background in religious teachings or moral frameworks. They often face challenges that previous generations did not, including cultural shifts and competing worldviews that can confuse or discourage them.

Supporting Young People Without Strong Moral Foundations

One of the most pressing challenges today is helping young people build a solid moral foundation. Many grow up in environments where traditional values are questioned or absent. Without clear guidance, they may struggle with decisions about right and wrong, purpose, and identity.

Our faith community can play a vital role by offering:

  • Clear teaching that connects faith to everyday life

  • Safe spaces for questions and honest conversations

  • Role models who live out their beliefs authentically

  • Opportunities for service that build character and community ties

Our dedicated volunteers established various groups for young people, including a theology class, a prayer group, and a Catholic hiking group. God ensured I wasn't alone by sending members with a strong missionary spirit.

As we approached the Corpus Christi solemnity, let’s pray that this renewal of the face of the Earth continues following the great gift of the presence of God among us.
