Could we avoid a war in Ukraine?

For many years I've looked at many different situations around the world. This helps me to understand the variety of different value systems, concepts of life and what matters in different cultures. I noticed something interesting. Western civilization kind of blindly, believes that it has the only way of managing the world, and whatever it says everybody is going to respect and follow. Unfortunately, this is not true. It is visible right now in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

For the last two weeks I have seen politicians trying to deter Putin from his decision, talking to him and using political reasons. It didn't work. The Presidents of France and Germany were humiliated in the last few day by naive faith in the power of their words. Unfortunately they didn't realize that this part of the world thinks in a different way-- they do not pay attention to empty words but to the power of the opponent. When Europe was reducing its number of soldiers, Russia increased this number very much.

We always have to remember that not everybody thinks like us and not everybody respects the same values as we do. What we call mercy, others call weakness. When we want peace, others are looking for war. When we want to keep quiet, others will shout. When this morning Russia entered Ukraine we could experience this reality difference. Each one of us knows that you cannot feed hungry lions with a bottle of milk. This lion will eat the one who was feeding him. So could we avoid this war? Probably we will never find an answer. Let's then use this situation as a learning moment. Even more, let's learn what happens when you remove God from the life of a society. Russia rejected God and then it accepted Lenin and socialism.

There is nothing good that we can give to the world if we don’t have God, “without God we can do nothing.” Thank you for the reflection. We’ll keep the prayers coming.

I pray for the people of Ukraine, also for the surrounding countries. I don't understand how some leaders can have such evil in their hearts. God Bless you and your family. Be safe.
