Divide and rule

Divide and rule or divide and conquer (divide et impera) is an old rule used in politics and sociology. It means to gain power by breaking up larger concentration of power into pieces that individually have less power than the one implementing the strategy.
We know that this rule is very much in use by any political parties and forces. We can see it on a level of the country and on a level of our towns. Because we lost an ability to listen to each other, we became an easy target to break power that was in our hands.
So why is this happening? We can see some common things present in the life of a Church and of United States.
We lowered level of education in our schools. In the name of equality, our schools replaced knowledge of facts with some social dogmas. Our modern child doesn't have to know how to spell the words but he or she has to recognize all different genders, how to save the planet etc. With a head full of all sorts of pseudo-science the child understand the world less and less and finally is not able to recognize what is true and what is false.
With a lack of general knowledge our children are encouraged to follow their emotions as a basic level of judging reality. It is not about truth but how they feel about it. Historical facts are not about right and wrong but how we feel about it. There are no heroes anymore. Victimology is more important than facts.
With emotions in a great mess our young generation looks at this world with confusion. Parents are blamed for good parenting, church for moral rules, people with moral rules for having all sorts of phobias. This leads to the war between "us and them". It is more or less like that: one has an emotional mess but expect everyone else to accept it and follow it. If not that person is an enemy that deserve to be punished.
Being such easy tool we do not realize how easy we can be used by those that know how to manipulate small groups of people.
I said earlier that this is a problem within the Church too. Many confusion we are facing now in our parishes came to us from as mall group of people that didn't like the Church's teaching. They preferred to create their own commandments based on human desire. You probably heard about a "spirit of the Vatican Council". This is the nickname of the church people who wants the church without God. They know what Vatican Council wanted but they do not know what Vatican Council said. As a consequence many ideas brought to our communities are in contradiction with our faith. So we got divided between conservative and progressive catholics. And here we are today divided and lost. It is time that we will embrace truth and facts. Only this way we will be one again.
Hello Father! I am reading a book called “Reclaiming Vatican II” by Fr. Blake Britton. He talks about some of the problems you touch in this post. I like what I have read so far, it is a good book. We need to reclaim our identity as Catholics based in Christ, but we have allowed division to creep everywhere. You are right, be need to embrace truth and help others find it through charity. Greetings!
I find where we are today frightening. I hope and pray we change directions soon.
You are so accurate! And it is a mess that we must be loyal to our faith.
