Do Your Best

As you know, this world likes to measure everything. We have all sorts of evaluation, steps of achievement, tools to measure our effectiveness. Sometimes I have this crazy cartoon vision in my head where our Lord is sitting behind his desk and checking to see how each apostle implements all the directions received from human resources. Fortunately, it is only some ironic thought and is not real.

But it is an opportunity to ask ourselves, what are we supposed to do in our life? Well, we are to do the best work we can. And this answer covers all levels of our lives. Whatever we do, we have to do it the best way we can. I told you before - God didn't create us to be mediocre. And there's more: God acts through us so every time we neglect our work, we do not allow God to do his miracles in this world. There is no saint that became a saint by being average.

It is very unfortunate that we've been convinced to be with God to a certain point only. I think this is one of the biggest weaknesses of our time and our parishes. We do only as much as we think is enough. This can lead to the very dangerous situation where we give God what is leftover from the rest of our life.

In the last few decades many of you heard that it is better to give something than nothing. Well, we should say it is better to give everything than something, because this something could be misleading and far away from truth. To be honest everything that we have comes from him anyway.

You are probably wondering what I am talking about, but here is the explanation. If we give only something then there is an empty space in our relationship with God. We saved something for ourselves, but actually this is a space that is open for Satan. He always waits for the moments when we want something for ourselves because he knows that this leaves an open door for him. So always do your best. Give God 100% of yourselves and I can promise you that you will have enough of everything you need. But there is more, by doing so, you, your family, and our community will leave no space for Satan and in this way we will make our country better by the presence of God in everything we do.
