Enemies

Naturally we do not like to have an enemy. We prefer for people to like us and very often we would give up even the truth itself to please others. We keep silent instead of saying something that could offend others. Everyone has to like us.
Of course it is impossible. There will always be someone that doesn't agree with us, criticizes us, or just simply doesn't like us. Actually there is no commandment that tells us that we have to like each other. So what is it about this entire desire to be liked?
Our spiritual balance is based on the truth about ourselves. This truth contains good and bad things, comfortable and very uncomfortable elements of our reality. Both those elements meet together in our internal, spiritual life. The more we turn towards goodness the more internal stability we have. But if we try to please everybody then we are losing the truth and we're giving it up for popularity. And here is our true enemy. This enemy forbids us to speak the truth. Parents will not say anything to their children because they are afraid to lose them. Priests will not say the truth in the parish because they are afraid to lose families. We have to be liked and we have to play a game showing our kindness. Unfortunately, this type of behavior sooner or later will turn against us.
Parents become prisoners of their children, pastors do whatever people want event if this is against the teaching of the Church. Friends are not friends anymore, but rather puppets, lying to each other. I can go on and on. And everything happens because we want to be liked by others. We are in a trap. The only way to get out from it is to see the truth about ourselves. Parents have to direct children. Priests have to lead people to God, friends have to be friends in a good and in a bad time. It is just that simple. Know the truth about yourself and know why God created you. All other answers will come from those two. Reject the enemy called "to be liked" and follow your friend "the truth."
Thank you so much, once again your wisdom come right on time !

Amen! So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, "If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." - John 8:31-32 Thank you for your Christ-centered leadership, Father Marek.
