False Prophets

I believe all of us had met at least one person that tried to sell us something that was complete rubbish. Those people always come with amazing promises of success. They tell stories of wonderful dreams that can happen to us. The easiest way to recognize their lies is to ask a very specific question. Most of the time they try to avoid giving the answer.

The same happens in our life. There are many false prophets that come with promises of success. It is not necessarily financial success but it always has the element of personal satisfaction. The catchy part is that you do not have to do anything. It is going to be given to you for free because you deserve it. This narrative is very close to what Jesus Christ told us: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Mt 11:28). But there is one very important difference. Christ is giving to us from his own. We have to come to Him and He will give Himself to us. The false prophets promise success but by using things that belong to someone else.

If we look at paradise and the sin of Adam and Eve, we will see that Satan promised the first people something great but not from his own. His promise was leading to knowledge that belonged to God. This is a method that he uses all the time.

I am listening to many promises that have been given in the last few months. All of them sound great and attractive but they have one common weakness. They are based on something that belongs to others, not to the one that makes the promises. I am surprised how much is going to be given to us but nobody says how much is going to be taken away from us.

It seems as if someone is rewriting the passage in Genesis that says: To the woman he said, "You will give birth to your children in pain. Your yearning will be for your husband, and he will dominate you. To the man he said, 'Because you listened to the voice of your wife and ate from the tree of which I had forbidden you to eat, Accursed be the soil because of you! Painfully will you get your food from it as long as you live. It will yield you brambles and thistles, as you eat the produce of the land. By the sweat of your face will you earn your food, until you return to the ground, as you were taken from it. For dust you are and to dust you shall return.'" (Gen 3:16-19) The new version seems to be like "You will not have to work. Everything will be given to you. You can do whatever you want without any consequences, just have fun. You are special and deserve things. You will live forever." Unfortunately this lie will not work and will surprise so many people following the false prophets. I hope that people will not fall into this trap. So let's pray for them that by the grace of God they will open their eyes and will trust God 's truth again.
