How Much of Me Is In What I Am Doing?

Have you seen "Shadow Government"? It is available on Amazon Prime. It is a very interesting documentary especially in the context of our recent election and the moves by the Big Tech companies. As we know, information is power. The more we know about something or someone the more we can control what happens. But what if that information is used to make us fully compliant slaves?

I know it sounds scary and maybe like science fiction, but it is taking place right now. Do you have a credit card, a cellphone, a computer, a tablet, or any other electronic device? As long you have one of them you are giving so much information about yourselves to somebody. I understand that we cannot work without those devices, but do we take special precautions to protect ourselves? Here is a hypothetical situation. About a year ago you used Google to find something about the coming election. Apparently you revealed your political preference. Since then somebody is collecting every possible information about you. You are getting commercials suggesting what you should do, how much injustice is happening, how you can solve the world's problems by following certain political options. A few months later you go to vote with your mind changed and you do not know why.

I know it is an extreme example but this is really happening in front of us. We have Alexa, Siri, Echo and other very helpful features that are listening to us 24/7 but who is behind them?

Our technological world is slowly turning us into a full controlled society. There is no privacy anymore. Our freedom is almost gone. So what will be next? Sometimes I ask myself, what is going to happen to me after all my posts and homilies. There are people that really do not like them. What will happen to you if you agree with me? But there is a much bigger question to ask: how much of me is left in me and how much is replaced by ideas implanted in my mind by somebody else hiding behind the screen?

I believe this has been happening for a while; we are just finding out to what extent. I almost want to break from all this crazy toxic wave and do what the Christians in the first century did: go and live in the mountains or the dessert, away from all this. My grandparents lived in a small town. They worked hard and lived a simple and happy life. I was the happiest when I went to visit them during the summer.

This is happening. We need to watch out for it in others, but also in ourselves. The sneaky thing is that this process takes what we already believe is true and uses it against us. It's like what they say about Satan's lies, he doesn't directly tell something that is entirely untrue -- he takes a truth, and twists it or changes part of it to make it a lie. In our house we are working to actively fight the algorithms directing sources to us that manipulate us. Many now are using new search engines, like Swisscows or DuckDuckGo, or trying to find new Web browsers. Google and Chrome were built to harvest information from you and sell…

We need to break from all the noise and confusion every now and then, to find ourselves in the silence; right there where God can talk to our hearts. Those times away help us to take a step back, take a look at ourselves, and recover our sanity. All this craziness is a vacuum that can pull even the strongest.
