It is almost a week since I am officially a chaplain of the US Air Force. It is an amazing gift and privilege to be part of this service. After so many obstacles and difficulties I can pay back for everything I had received since I arrived to USA. I know that I left people who are happy for me and those who are angry with me. I love both of them. For last few years I learned how much personal wants and hates are affecting the life of the Church. This experience opened my eyes on the reality of the American Dream - love those who agree with you but hate others if they have different opinion. To be fair this is a minority. For last 12 years serving for the Diocese of Colorado Springs Diocese I had seen wonderful things. I had received so much kindness, mercy, love and support that I even cannot remember all of them. I had to apologize for my mistakes that happen to everybody. This is life - nobody is perfect.
Now I am here. I would like to bring all this experience to my work, to share it with our active duty personnel. I will need a lot of your prayers. I will need a lot of wisdom from the Holy Spirit. Not all of those decisions will be understood by some people, but this is hard part of being a priest. Anyway, I am embracing the new reality.
I've recently got an idea. What if each person reading my blog takes one, anonymous person from the military and keep that person in daily prayers. This way we come with a spiritual help and give a support to those, who sometimes are under mazing pressure. We forgot that the early Church found her strength in the unity and mercy. Maybe I am naive, but I do not hold the grudges against anybody. I believe that is the reason why I can smile every day, and with this smile I can walk through any difficulties. God gives us so many blessings that I do not have time to look at the past that challenged me.
I wish all of you a wonderful month of October, a month of the Rosary. Pray it for yourself and for the others.
Father Marek, it was so good to hear from you! From your message , I felt a real happiness in your words. The Cadets are so blessed to have you to guide and shepherd them! I will definitely pray for you and them. Thank you for keeping in touch, Linda
Thank you for the update Fr. Marek. Praying for you as you begin your new journey as a chaplain for the Air Force. I know you will continue to touch many lives and be a Spiritual Leader for them just as you were for me. Will be praying for the military personnel and their families, it is not an easy life. God Bless.
May God's face shine upon you now and forever!!
Fr., thank you for this update. You are always in our prayers. You are missed! Yes, I would be very happy to pray for a service person. God bless you, Fr
You are such a generous and balanced soul to be relocated to a potentially volatile military setting yet looking forward courageously to whatever God has planned for you, and still smiling! You are a beautiful witness for all of us. Yes we will keep an anonymous soldier in daily prayer as a second spiritual adoption along with our daily pro-life daily unborn baby prayer. Thank you for the suggestion. Confident that through His Holy Spirit God is keeping you close and protecting you with many Blessings and Graces we still always pray daily for you too.
