And now it is time to say good bye to the year 2020. Just a few more hours and we will get a year older. Nothing wrong with it. So how is this next year going to be? I will not be making any predictions because God has his plan and hopefully we will be able to follow it.
So on this last day it is good to ask ourselves what we've learned from 2020. There are a few things that I really appreciate that I was part of.
I learned that most of the people like the Church that brings the truth to their hearts. It seems that many are tired of the diluted version of our faith. The tradition and orthodoxy gives a very good base to everything in our life. Beautiful Liturgy leads to the deep relationship with God. Meaningful hymns enrich prayer life.
I learned that the Church needs to witness God in this world by faithfulness to the Gospel. Relativism makes people empty and the only way to fill this vacuum is to bring the beauty of the Gospel with its hope and call to repentance.
I learned that a small virus can shake an entire society if there is no trust in God. The more proud we are the more afraid we are if things go a different way. We can change very early from being friend to being enemies and the main force to do it is actually the public media.
I learned that if you try to think your own way the entire establishment will turn against you. Social media, Google, Twitter, Instagram, FaceBook and others want to be the only right option. They spy on us and try to play with our freedom.
I learned that many people think the same way as I do. They want to have traditional families, they want to work, they want to help each other. Every day I have seen people taking care of the ones in need. They are still smiling, even wearing the mask.
I learned that the establishment is so hungry for power that it will turn people against each other. They are people that cannot stand us being together so they will create issues and events to bring up riots, they will separated people according to skin color, they will bully you if you do not agree with them.
I learned that we have fantastic people in law enforcement, military, medical field, etc. So many people are willing to lay down their lives to protect us. In the last year they received so much disgusting criticism (mostly Police) when at the same time they gave up their own good to make us safe. I salute all our Police Officers.
And most of all I learned that every time I followed God, He has always led me through the best paths possible. So, on this last day of 2020 I can say that I learned a lot and I hope you did too.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts these last months. They were very thought provoking of which I appreciate. I, too, learned a lot this past year. This past year has been a very eye-opening experience regarding other human beings (as well as myself) and of the different ways in which people approach and handle difficult times. I hope I have taught my kids how to bear difficult times and that this year has been a much needed reminder to all that we are not in charge. Never have been. I want you to know that I greatly miss your sermons. You are in my prayers. May blessings abound for you in 2021. Happy New Year Father Marek.
