Morality vs. Politics

For the last few decades we were told that our faith cannot be mixed with politics. As a consequence we separated moral life from political life. Every time something controversial came to the public discussion, all morals were removed because they belong to religion.

What a lie.

The Church is always involved in the future of the country. This means that She must be involved in the legislative decisions. Law is not separated from morality.

I am very much involved in what is happening on the political level as long as it touches the moral values. There is no perfect solution for all political and social problems but if we follow what God told us then we definitely will save ourselves from very serious problems.

The most important value that we must uphold is that human life, from the moment of conception till natural death, is sacred. The Second Vatican Council presented this very clearly: "Whatever is opposed to life itself, such as any type of murder, genocide, abortion, euthanasia, or willful self-destruction, whatever violates the integrity of the human person, such as mutilation, torments inflicted on body or mind, attempts to coerce the will itself; whatever insults human dignity, such as subhuman living conditions, arbitrary imprisonment, deportation, slavery, prostitution, the selling of women and children; as well as disgraceful working conditions, where people are treated as mere instruments of gain rather than as free and responsible persons; all these things and others like them are infamies indeed. They poison human society, and they do more harm to those who practise them than to those who suffer from the injury. Moreover, they are a supreme dishonor to the Creator." (Gaudium at Spes 27) A person cannot say "I believe in God" and at the same time agree with the law that allows us to kill. "God did not make death, and he does not delight in the death of the living. For he has created all things that they might exist ... God created man for incorruption, and made him in the image of his own eternity, but through the devil's envy death entered the world, and those who belong to his party experience it". (Wis 1:13-14; 2:23-24)

Personally, I will not stop talking about it until all children are safe. I am furious when I hear even Church leaders that place social justice, climate problems, migrations, etc. before protecting the unborn lives. They should think who they serve. The fifth commandment says: You shall not kill. Do not be a wolf in sheep's clothing.

God said clearly: "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you." (Jer 1:5) We are not a fetus or a bunch of cells in our mother's womb. We are people with our own individual DNA that makes us an individual. This person living in mom will not come again. He or she will be on this world only once.

Who are we to decide who is going to live, unless someone believes that they are a god. But there was one before that said: I will not serve God, I will make myself equal to God. This was Satan. Nothing good came from him.

Morality is a very important part of political life. It protects us from redirecting natural law against nature. It saves lives and builds an understanding of our own dignity as a creation of God.
