The first week of Advent is almost behind us. I hope you had time to look at your prayer life and find how much we can receive from God when we are with Him.
It is no surprise that God always comes to us with the same merciful love. Today's Gospel reading from Matthew once more shows Christ looking at us and sending his disciples to help us find Him. Our entire lives He is reaching out to us with one wish, that we would love Him the same way He loves us.
I've told you many times that this world only imitates love and actually doesn't care about us. Satan uses very clever ways to convince many people that being nice to each other is enough and it will make the entire world a paradise. As we know, this is not truth.
Through our prayer life we learn what true love really means. It is not about being nice and tolerant. It is about being a person and approaching the other person the same way as God approaches us - by giving ourselves for the salvation of others.
Do not be afraid or intimidated by the evil in this world. We have to go and bring the "true light" so that the darkness of Satan will be removed from the hearts of many people.
I am working on this already. I try to help some of my friends to find this true light. It is hard but Jesus didn't say that it would be easy. There are many obstacles in our way, but we can do it together with God.
So, let's go into anther week of Advent with deep faith and trust in God.
"Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you"
--James4:8
This may not be exactly on point, but when I was growing up (Protestant, Episcopalian), one of my favorite songs was “Onward Christian Soldiers”…we sang it joyfully and went to work with love for others in our hearts.
Isn’t it beautiful how Jesus in his mercy and love, became a gift to us? We should be at awe... We are so loved! Let’s get started! Put our hearts on it and become a gift to him and others, in imitation of him... Our very true light!
Amen! Being the Light of Jesus is a blessing and a Holy responsibility. The only way I can approximate that action is to know that Christ lives in me.
