For the last few months we've been told how we should wash our hands, where to wear a mask, how far from each other we have to be (by the way this virus is using the imperial system). Our governors take care of our body so much. Unfortunately, so much is focused on our body that we forgot about our spirit.
We have a spiritual COVID. It is much more dangerous than the small virus. And you probably are asking why. The small virus can kill only our body, but the soul is still alive with God (according to the CDC 0.66% of deaths are caused by the virus). This new spiritual COVID doesn't kill only the body. It kills the human soul. It is very deadly because once you die you do not have any chance to have eternal life.
So how do we recognize it? There are a few symptoms that nobody with this virus can miss.
The first symptom is insisting on convenience with a relationship with Jesus. People suffering with this virus must organize their life with Christ by trying to find time between other things that are more important to them. It is mostly visible on Sundays when they have a hard time celebrating Holy Mass because of a schedule packed tight with all sorts of activities. They always must deal with the problem of how to squeeze Christ into their life.
The second symptom is also interesting. They do not make any sins. Every wrongdoing has its explanation based on their circumstances and the faults of other people.
The third symptom is related to a practical approach to being in union with the Church. They already know everything about the teaching of the Church. They can point to all the mistakes made by the Church and make it their own reason for not truly following God.
The fourth reason is very tricky. They know that God loves them and that is enough. They do not have to love him because they have so much on their plate. So, God has to understand how important the things happening every day are and that, therefore, there is not time for Him.
This spiritual COVID needs a treatment that can be offered only by repentance in the Church. It needs some serious elements coming from the Sacrament. If left untreated, spiritual COVID leads to everlasting death.
If we think about both COVIDs it is clear that the spiritual COVID is much more deadly and brutal. Unfortunately many people ignore it.
