The Lord Will Guard Us as a Shepherd Guards His Flock

What can we do to be safe? You can buy insurance, have a bodyguard, sleep in a fireproof house, etc. None of these can guarantee you'll be completely safe. Our life is always exposed to things that we cannot predict, things that can surprise us, shock us in the most unexpected moment. There is nothing in this world that has power to make us safe. However, there is one person that is above all of these. He is not just a person, he is God.

For a few thousand years, He was always taking care of those following His path. He fed them, freed them from slavery, protected them from many different pagan tribes. The only thing he required was being faithful to Him. In the final moment, He sent His only Son to give us “safe” life in His grace.

For so many years of my life, I was always experiencing the “safety” grace. There were moments when things turned in a very dangerous direction and then in the middle of it something happened that changed everything. It happened on the ice wall of Monte Rosa, in the deep darkness of the rain forest, during a tribal war in Papua New Guinea and many more places. God is the only one that can offer us safe live in His grace. The more we rely on Him the safer we are.

I am always surprised how difficult it is for so many people to trust God. They are so afraid to let things go. By desiring to control their own world, they waste their time trying to protect themselves. Just imagine how many wonderful things could happen to you if instead of spending so much time creating your “safe space” you would let God take care of you.

Thanks be to God for caring for us during our trip so that we could make it safe back home, and thanks be to God for the little humiliations He allows us to receive from our friends so that we grow in humbleness. Praise be to God!

Dear Fr. Krol, hoping in the future, you'll share details with us about the "safety" graces you've witnessed. Such sharing always builds faith, hope and charity. Thank you Father!
