The Tallest Tower

Our life cannot exist in spiritual emptiness. Any place of vacuum is immediately taken by the evil forces. That's how we are. For the last three days we were removing quite a lot of old dirt from our life. Unintentionally, we have now this empty space in our life. So there is work that has to be done.

The first thing that we have to do is to pick up something that will matter to our relationship with Jesus Christ. If we look at it honestly then our first choice is to make Christ the center of our life. It always seems to be overwhelming, but it is actually a very beautiful spiritual work. We learn about it from the Gospel according to John chapter 4, verses 1-42.

This is the meeting between Jesus Christ and a Samaritan woman. In this dialogue we can see how by the power of the Son of God, the truth slowly fills the heart of a woman that is completely lost in her life. She has had five husbands and the one man she was with at that time wasn't even her husband. In her honesty, she presented the truth of her miserable life full of emptiness. Because of that, Jesus Christ was able to place his grace into her.

Each one of us has to come to "the well" and face Christ asking us the basic question: do you want to drink the water He wants to offer? This is the water that can quench every thirst of our life. This water comes from the well of eternal life.

Our world is so messed up because we drink from the wrong spring. We run to the empty wells hoping to find lasting fulfillment, but every time we reach into it, there is only an empty hole left.

The Samaritan woman shows us how in the simplicity of truth we can find spiritual fulfillment. This is the first thing that we need in order to walk towards God. The last few months showed us that this world cannot really give us the water of life. It is only a mirage of something that we desire, but it will never be able to satisfy the void for something spiritually important - for God.

Go to the well and speak with Jesus as the Samaritan woman did.
