It is hard imagine what really happened on the top of the mountain when Christ was transfigured in front of Peter, James and John. We can get some idea of what happened, but only those three can really describe this mystery.
Transfiguration is not only about that moment though. There is a much deeper meaning in it. It is not reserved just for three apostles. It is available to all of us. There is a reason why they couldn't talk about it before the resurrection. We know Jesus Christ after his resurrection. We know his power, humanity and divinity. Everything was revealed to us by Christ himself. But there is one more step that has to be done in our relationship with Jesus. We have to get to know Him in a much deeper way than we learned when we were 10 years old.
Our growing in faith leads us to our personal mountain where we will face Christ in the fullness of his revelation. Every spiritual journey sooner or later has to get to the point when we see all the divinity of Jesus Christ. This is the moment when everything that we've learned in theory becomes alive in us. Your Baptism, Reconciliation, Holy Communion and other sacraments are looming with a power of grace and make us true disciples.
It is the desire of our souls to see the fullness of the divinity of Jesus Christ. It can happen any time in your life, but when it happens everything that you know about yourself will be changed. When the apostles gathered in the room after the Resurrection, they couldn't recognize Christ in his divine body, but at the same time they began to believe forever. So do not be afraid to climb up your mountain of Transfiguration. Let Christ make you the way he wants you.
