Unity (but what kind?)

For the last few days I've heard quite a lot about unity -- I've used this word myself. Unfortunately, I am getting the impression that the medical understanding of unity is very different from mine.

For me unity means that above all our differences there are some common elements that all of us respect and they are the foundation of everything that we want to build. We learn how to respect different points of view, different understandings of problems or even different beliefs. Unity doesn't mean we have to have the same thoughts or the same solutions.

Watching some programs or reading some articles I am getting the impression that this is not the unity our media are oozing about. It seems to me that for them unity means everything must be the same and if anyone has different ideas from them then he or she has to be silenced. I hope that I am wrong, but it is hard for me to think a different way.

I always enjoyed discussions with my friends. Our variety of understanding made our evenings so fruitful and opened doors to something unknown. But the last few years I've noticed that those discussions are actually very unusual and almost impossible for many people. In our time, it is more about "you agree with me and then I will tolerate you or you disagree with me and then you are my enemy." I know that the media blame President Trump for it, but after talking to so many young people I discovered that they do not watch or listen to the news. They actually follow blogs, FaceBook pages, or other modern social media where they hear only those so called famous authorities. I would say more: most of them almost never heard president Trump speak.

So who created this divisive climate? I believe these are the same people that complained about our president. So if these same people are now talking about unity then I am afraid it is not about understanding or support. It sounds to me more like "my way or highway."

Lenin promised unity that cost all communist countries 94 million lives. (I really encourage you to read "The Black Book of Communism" from 1997). Hitler promised one and everlasting Germany - the cost was 20 million people (non-battle deaths) under German influence only.

Are we approaching another great idea of unity that eliminates every other idea? There is no answer for this question today. It probably will take a few years to see the truth, but we should pray to God that he will save us from this utopian publicly declared unity. Our strength is in united variety, not in being the same.

Your concept of unity is amenable to that of J.R.R. Tolkein. Throughout the Lord of the Rings, one sees that evil "uniform," yet fractured. For example, Sauron commands the race of orcs and Saruman commands the race of Uruk-Hai. Both races look identical and act in identical ways; however, in the novel, both Sauron and Saruman compete for the one ring. By contrast, Tolkein underscores that the race of men is "unified," not uniform. The Numenoreans, the Rohirrim (Rohan), and the Gordorians are all incredibly different. The Numenoreans remain solitary; the Rohirrim breed horses; the Gondorians are proud. Yet, in the climax of the novel, all unite in order to successfully repel the siege of Minas Tirit and later strik…

This film (https://www.opendoors.org/) and what you have said Fr. Marek is very SAD and troublesome, and yet we do not even show any Love for one another, or maybe some love, in peoples own little way. We forget to commune with the Beloved Lord Jesus Christ. We need to move beyond 'just' the Words of Jesus Christ, instead, allow it to settle, grow within ourselves, filling every ounce of our being (body, mind, soul). I know as a convert to the Catholic faith, this conversion to the True Way of Our Lord is still ongoing. We Must wake UP and be honest with ourselves about how little faith we actually have....?? Peace Be With You, Jesus shouts out in his…

I believe that President Trump is a gift from God to the United States of America ( we all are a gift from God) President Trump is not perfect, he is a sinner like us but loves America and Americans very much. President Trump had showed us how corrupt are most of media, the politicians, governors, the swamp is deep and real, how Satan poisons our country with lies. But God has a plan and we should trust God. Keep praying to God and God will guide us.
