We Cannot Serve Two Masters

In the middle of Lent we have the memorial of St. Casimir, a king of Poland. He was very young, but very mature in his faith. From his early years, he knew that there is only one master and king and it is not him. He was always looking for direction from God in order to make wise decisions for his country.
I am talking about it because so many of our brothers and sister in the Church are separating their spiritual life from their daily life. They try to serve two masters expecting profit from both. It is impossible to do. We cannot serve two masters because we will love one first and we will cheat on the other one or vice versa.
The time of Lent teaches us that there is only one master and only one God. One of the weaknesses of our modern Church is that so many members would like to please God and Satan hoping to profit from both. They claim to be progressive and understanding of the needs of the modern world. They claim to know what God wants, but they do not know God. We cannot do it. We cannot share the love we have for God with this world. I would like to advise everyone to read or reread "The Great Divorce" written by C.S. Lewis.
By Baptism we have only one God and He told us everything that we have to know. His words didn't expire. His will is not outdated. His commandments are still the same. It doesn't matter if you are the head of a big company, the president of a country, or a carpenter in your own workshop. There is only one master and He is God. It is not enough to say "Lord, lord." We must prove our devotion by our actions. So do not get fooled by empty words. Who is not with Christ, is against Him.
That is a great book indeed!
I want to give the benefit of the doubt and think that this progressive view comes out of ignorance. Sound teaching in Seminaries is so important!
God is one; he is God, and we are not.
In a very rural area, on Hwy 24 between Colorado Springs and Limon, there was silver metal building on which was painted in large black letters;
"Know God Know Peace
No God No Peace."
