Which Direction To Go?

It doesn't matter where we are or what we are doing. This question always comes up. There is no way to escape it unless we do not make any reflection on our life. I remember my high school and my first hour in this school. Our teacher was standing in front of us and she said with a very serious voice: Nobody asked you to come here and nobody will cry if you will leave. It is your choice and only you are responsible for this choice.

This one minute of her speech set up our entire futures. We make choices and we are responsible for them. I am not exactly sure if it was this short speech, but from us, thirty-six students in a classroom, only one doesn't have a master degree and a few of us have doctorate degrees. All of us have jobs, we are moving forward with very clear views about ourselves.

But there is a second part of this story. It is about the Church. This was our second element of growing up. Every weekday, just before we went to the school, our first few minutes we spent in the church praying. Some of my classmates were coming from other villages so when they got off the bus they joined us in prayers. School started at 8:00 am but twenty minutes before our church was half full of teenagers praying. I believe that this is the place where we really discovered what direction to go.

Today we have psychologists, career advisers and other helpers at schools but it doesn't look like our children are doing any better. They are depressed, confused, lost and it is because they do not have the One who really can help and change our life. They do not have a relationship with God.

When I see on TV all those young frustrated people, destroying cities, businesses, I am very sorry for them. Nobody will give them this time again. They will miss their best years on complaining, riots, empty relationships. Probably a few decades from now they will understand what mistakes they made but it will be too late.

If you would like to know what direction to go in your life, the first person to ask about it is God. If you are confused, lost, go to Him. He knows all the answers.

Celebrating birthdays is celebrating God's goodness, too. LOL.

I am confused, I am asking God, now I need to listen! Thank you, Father.
